Instant Challenge Blitz = IC Skillz + IC Scrimmage

This event is your team’s best chance to get great IC practice and pointers from experts before the tournament. You do not want to miss this!

 

Format

​

Your team will choose one 2 hour+ Saturday session. On Saturday, the team will rotate through 3 IC rooms, each with a different type of challenge: Performance, Task and Hybrid. In each rotation, the team will have the full attention of 1 experienced challenge expert. They will receive a skills tutorial relating to that challenge type, followed by an opportunity to use those skills to solve a challenge.  Afterwards, the team will receive critical feedback from the challenge expert. Each rotation is 40 minutes with a 5 minute passing period.

Skills taught will include:

  • General IC Information including Parts of a Challenge, roles, team member strengths and weaknesses, scoring, teamwork, risk-reward, what creativity really means.

  • Task IC Skills – types of task ICs, use of materials, risks and choices, gotcha tips and roles.

  • Performance IC Skills – characterization, storylines, what to avoid and acting pointers.

Each team must be accompanied by 1 adult, 2 adults max per team. Since the rotations are private, we will allow video recording.

 

Registration Information

 

Teams will register for 1 session. When a session fills up, registration will close for that session. Payment is incorporated in the registration process. If payment is not processed in 3-4 hours, the registration will automatically be deleted and the space opened up for another team.

 

The fee is $25/Team (not per team member.)

 

Time Slots: (check-in for each session begins ½ hour prior to the beginning of the session.)

  • Session 1: 8:30-10:40

  • Session 2: 10:55-1:05

  • More sessions may be added after morning sessions are full

 

Please plan carefully and be aware of the following:

 

  • A minimum of 2 team members is required for your team to attend.

  • Team members who arrive after a rotation has started, will be required to wait until the beginning of the next rotation to join their team.

  • After you have signed up, it is not possible to transfer your team to another session.

  • No refunds will be given unless there is a waiting list for your session and your slot can be filled. Refunds in this case will be the original payment minus a $2 processing fee.

  • We will not hold slots open while you check with your team.

  • You are registering once for your entire team. Do not register individual team members.

  • Each 2+ hour session has space for 9 teams max, no exceptions.
